Wordpress static front page without the scroll

Some people don't like to have to scroll too far to get to the footer of their static site and by default the Wordpress twenty seventeen theme adds extra pages. The answer provided by the kind guy at WPColt is to add a few lines to functions.php to increase or decrease the number of sections on your front page.
